Prologue

Horner's Seduction Strategy (Act 1, lines 1 - 53:)
In his conversation with Dr. Quack, the rake Horner reveals his strategy for seducing even more women than he has before. Dr. Quack has spread the false rumor that Horner, due to a sexually transmitted disease contracted in France, is "as bad as an Eunuch." Horner explains to the skeptical Quack that the belief that he is impotent will give him two advantages. 1) Husbands won't be jealous when Horner is alone with their wives. 2) Women who express disgust at Horner's impotence will thus reveal that they are interested in the game of sex.
The First Trial of Horner's Strategy (Act 1, lines 54 - 184)
Having heard the news about Horner, Sir Jaspar Fidget, a "formal Fool," shows up to tease Horner by asking him to kiss Lady Fidget and by inviting him to his house to play cards with his wife, as that is now the only good Horner can be to women. After Sir Jaspar has departed, Quack admits that Horner's plan is working.
